Grants are available for qualifying groups throughout the Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council area.

Please note that applying for a grant is a competitive process and awards are subject to the availability of funds and may be subject to change.

As a condition of award of grant, all applicants names and contact details will be detailed on Committee reports correspondence which will be accessible to the public


Community Grants 19-20

Community Development and Festivals Grants for the period 1 April 2019 – 31 March 2020 are now closed.

Small Seeding and/or Insurance and Small Activity and/or Insurance Grants for 1 April 2019 - 31 March 2020 are now open for application from 21 January 2019..  

If your organisation is applying for a grant, particularly for the first time, you should contact a member of the Community Development Team on 028 90340060/61.

Please note you should apply a minimum of 8 weeks before your event / insurance renewal date.

Good Relations - 2019-2020

This grant is now open for applications and will close for applications on 30 September 2019 at 12noon.

Leisure Grants Programme 19/20

Leisure Grant applications reopen on 1st October 2019 and close on 30th November 2019.

From 1 April 2019 these grants will be subject to new guidance notes and grant conditions.

Leisure Grants Capital Grants for Sports Clubs 1st October 2019 00:01 Saturday, 30/11/2019 @ 23:59 The Capital Grants are available to local Sports Clubs that apply for funding for the development of new facilities or the enhancement of existing facilities that meet evidenced based need. These conditions should be read in conjunction with the Standard Terms and Conditions for all Leisure Grants.
Leisure Grants Sports Events Grant 1st October 2019 00:01 Saturday, 30/11/2019 @ 23:59 The Events Grant category is open to applications from Governing Bodies and Sports Clubs for events that can both promote and enhance sport and its development within the Borough and also bring real economic benefits and raise the profile of the Borough and/or facilities. These conditions should be read in conjunction with the Standard Terms and Conditions for all Leisure Grants.
Leisure Grants Defibrillator Grant 1st October 2019 00:01 Saturday, 30/11/2019 @ 23:59 The Defibrillator Grant category is available for local Sports Clubs/Community groups who wish to apply for funding towards the purchase of a defibirillator and associated security casing where applicable. These conditions should be read in conjunction with the Standard terms and Conditions for all Leisure Grants.
Leisure Grants Fitness Suite Gold Card 1st October 2019 00:01 Saturday, 30/11/2019 @ 23:59 Successful applications to this scheme will be entitled to 12 months MORE Membership allowing fitness suite, pool and health suite use at council Leisure centres within the Borough. These conditions should be read in conjunction with the Standard terms and Conditions for all Leisure Grants.
Leisure Grants Grant to Clubs 1st October 2019 00:01 Saturday, 30/11/2019 @ 23:59 The Grant to Clubs category is available to support Sports Clubs who can clearly demonstrate their potential perform at a high level within their respective sports or who aspire to develop within their sport. There are three strands available: 1. Education and Competition: (up to £1,000) 2. Specialist Equipment with a lifespan exceeding 5 years: (up to £7,500)* 3. Facility improvement: for applicants that wish to improve performance and increase participation levels or capacity through minor improvements to facilities. (up to £10,000)* 4. Applications to strands 2 or 3 will only be accepted from a club every 2 years. 5. Applicants can apply annually under strand 1. These conditions should be read in conjunction with the Standard Terms and Conditions for all Leisure Grants.
Leisure Grants Grants to Coaches and Officials 1st October 2019 00:01 Saturday, 30/11/2019 @ 23:59 The Grant to Coaches & Officials category is available to support aspiring Coaches who can demonstrate potential to coach or officiate at a higher level in their own sport and develop aspiring elite athletes/ teams. These conditions should be read in conjunction with the Standard Terms and Conditions for all Leisure Grants.
Leisure Grants Grants to Athletes 1st October 2019 00:01 Saturday, 30/11/2019 @ 23:59 The Grant to Athletes category is available to Elite and aspiring high performers who can demonstrate that they are competing (or have the potential to compete) at the highest level in their sport. These conditions should be read in conjunction with the Standard Terms and Conditions for all Leisure Grants.

Every Body Active (EBA) Small Grants Saturday, 31/08/2019 @ 23:59 The Every Body Active Grant is available to local organisations that can both promote and participation in physical activity and its development within the Borough. Council will consider up to 100% funding of total eligible costs up to a maximum of £1,000 To be eligible for this Grant your project must meet the following criteria: a) Project must take place within the Borough. b) Grants will be open to online applications from: Not for profit, Community and Voluntary Organisations who are delivering activities aligned to the established outcomes of the Council’s Community plan; Sports Clubs; Parent and Teacher organisations. c) Activities planned and delivered must be a recognised Sport NI sport or physical activity. d) Beneficiaries must be residents in N.I. e) Applications must be submitted online Project priorities: Priority will be given to project which aims to increase participation among traditionally underrepresented groups which include: o Women & girls o People with a disability
